Welcome!
Welcome to the Skype MinuteFix Private Beta Launch team! You have been selected to try out one of Skype's newest services, Skype Prime. Skype Prime was launched last year in Beta. Skype is now gearing up to launch Skype Prime with full-force including a live directory of providers where customers will be able to search and find Skype Prime Providers.
So what is Skype Prime, you ask? Skype Prime is a global marketplace for skills and services where you can get paid for sharing your knowledge and talents with tens of millions of people around the world. Alternatively, use Skype Prime services to learn something new. Skype has partnered with MinuteFix to provide top-notch IT support through qualified experts.
So, what is this Private Beta all about?
Well, you have been selected to take a team of IT providers for a spin, for free. We are building the Skype Prime directory and need you to be the first customer. We are gathering reviews for the technicians and testing out the technology. It will only take a few minutes of your time, and will give you bragging rights to say you were one of the first to be given access to a service that can change the way services are delivered online.
Okay, so how do I get started?
It's very simple, all you need to do is follow these steps:
If you haven't already, download Skype, create an account and log in. Make sure your computer microphone is working.
To participate in this private beta, you will be issued $3 in Skype Credit. To make sure you have been provided the credit, please email your Skype Name to customer.support@minutefix.com if you haven't already.
You will be asked to call a Skype Prime Technician from this list. You will then need to be creative and come up with a reasonable question or problem you can request help for. It could be related to general computer problems, questions regarding new technology, pretty much anything tech. Some examples might include:
Should I upgrade to Windows Vista?
What is the best antivirus software?
You might want to ask opinions, or get remote support. "Pretend" sessions are welcomed. Please ensure that they are within reason, and they will ensure a positive experience for the technician.
The way a Skype Prime works is as follows: When you first call, you will not be charged. You will be able to talk with the technician and get to know them. The technician will then send you an invitation to initiate a paid session when you are ready, fees which will be drawn from the Skype Credit you have been provided. All sessions will be $0.15 per minute. You will be given $1 of Skype Credit, so you will have 20 minutes of paid-for time available. Average sessions with a tech should last around 5 - 10 minutes. At all possible, you should engage in 1 - 2 paid-for sessions with various technicians. All funds will be drawn from the Skype Credit provided you. You should not go over the $3 provided.
After ending the paid-for session (which is done simply by hanging up), you are required to provide feedback for the technician. To do so, you need to open SkypeFind (available as a tab in the Skype software) and search for the technician's name. Once you are on the technician's SkypeFind profile you will need to click on "Add your review" and leave a comment. Here's a visual walk-through on leaving your review. Honest feedback is encouraged considering that the session problem could have been hypothetical. Friendly feedback is also welcomed.
If you have credit left over, the process should be repeated. 1 - 2 sessions are expected from each participant.
So, how do I win the iPhone?
We are handing out a shiny new G3 iPhone to one of the beta testers who completes the instructions above. You must email us to customer.support@minutefix.com to let us know you have completed these tasks. There are very few of you, so your chances are high...
